Yes, Asteroids! And that’s the vector graphics version, too. Wow, that’s old school. I still remember the day my dad brought home Asteroids for our old school Atari 2600. That machine had simulated woodgrain paneling and little levers you pulled down to turn it on or reset it. It’s scary for me to think that the most primitive system available during my sons’ lives will be the Playstation 3 / XBOX 360.
I’ve never actually played Asteroids (I think Super Mario Brothers for the first Nintendo was the first video game I ever played) … but it does look pretty retro sweet!
Al – I saw your comments over at The Daily Cartoonist (I’m thinking particularly of the “LP” comment). Ted Rall just does not get it. The world is changing and it’s not anyone’s fault, it’s just the economy shifting from print to digital and syndicated cartoonists are collateral damage in that shift. I think Ted must wake up and say to himself “If I just post 150 comments on why everyone should read syndicated comics and webcomics are bad I can save the syndicated comic industry.” Yeah. Good luck. No matter how many posts re: LP sales statistics he puts up, the change will go on. The destruction of the newspaper industry is what economists call the “creative destruction” inherent in capitalism, and it’s sad when people lose their jobs as a result, but that’s the world we live in. Otherwise we’d have great mountains of rotting, unread newspapers laying around.
@Steal – Ha, I almost forgot about that post. If you click on his link you’ll see that he is syndicated, so clearly he’s a little biased. I don’t think he was being a jerk or anything, but I do think that he was trying to convince everyone (maybe even himself) that newspapers will be around forever. I personally, as well as you too, don’t think it’s going to happen… :/
Ahh..asteroids. I think that is where I became claustrophobic.

Asteroids? I had a case of that one time and couldn’t sit down for a week.
Ahhhh memories…
I was so lousy at that game.. I’m glad it’s dead.
Of course, it was popular at a time when I didn’t know I needed glasses.
Ahhh, asteroids… where I learned that I was prone to addiction! o.O
Ha,ha,ha! With the 3rd panel I guess this is an instant classic!
@Bearman – Lol, yeah I got that from Centipede.
@Steal – Hahaha, good stuff. AND the truth! O.o
@Bo – Lol, nice.
@stormmie – Haha, yep!
@Tracy – At least you can blame the glasses.
@jynksie – Lol!
@MJ – It could be…
I love the asteroids animation! “Blast” from the past indeed!
@David – It was actually more animated, but the animation kept leaving trails in it. Not sure why. I may have to re-load my software… :/

Yogi?! Watch your mouth, Marvin the Martian!
Hahaha – love me the asteroids!
@SpilledInkGuy – Mine, was Pong, haha, then Space Invaders. I don’t think we got Asteroids until it was out for a while and went clearance, I think.
@Dada – Haha, yeah, right?!?
@Rick – Lol, yeah, it IS still fun to play.
Oh, that is so cool! I have gotta try this!
@George – Yeah, it’s fun, but sometimes it’s a pain in the butt. See my reply to David above.
AWESOME. Loved me some Asteroids.
Brogan remembers things in black and white?
@Dawn – Haha, you know, now I’m in the mood to play some Asteroids.
@Stripsy-Artist – He has one of those B/W Photographic memories, lol.

@Fuzz – Lol, yeah, now I’m in the mood to play it.
